What Is Blur Face?

Blur Face is a free, browser-based tool for blurring faces and sensitive content in photos and videos. It uses on-device AI — MediaPipe and WebAssembly — to detect and obscure faces automatically, with no server uploads, no account required, and no data ever leaving your device.

The tool supports 11 languages and is used by journalists, activists, social media users, and businesses who need to protect people's identities in visual content before publishing.

Why It Was Built

Most face-blurring services either require you to upload your photos to a cloud server, charge a monthly fee, or are buried inside heavyweight desktop software. We think that's wrong — especially for a tool whose entire purpose is protecting privacy.

Blur Face runs entirely in your browser tab. The AI model downloads once and runs locally on your device. Your photos and videos are never transmitted anywhere. That's not a marketing claim — it's how the technology works.
